If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be driving a rare Porsche 924S Le Mans across Europe, attending Porsche events and documenting the journey, I’d probably have laughed. Like many great adventures, it all started with a car that wasn’t going anywhere.
My first Porsche was a gold 1986 Porsche 924S, registration C252 XNX. I bought it in 2004 with every intention of restoring and enjoying it, but life has a habit of getting in the way. Around 2008 the project came to an abrupt halt, most likely due to a fuel delivery or fuel pump issue, and the car has remained tucked away ever since, patiently waiting for the day it would return to the road.

Although it hasn’t turned a wheel in many years, I never lost my enthusiasm for the car. Every so often I’d look at it, promise myself I’d get started, and imagine what it would be like to hear the engine running again. One day, I knew I’d bring it back to life.
That spark was reignited in November 2025 when I attended the Classic Motor Show at the NEC. Visiting the Porsche 924 Owners Club stand reminded me just how passionate and welcoming the community is. Surrounded by beautifully maintained examples of the 924 range, I found the inspiration I’d been missing. Before leaving the show, I joined the Porsche 924 Owners Club, marking the beginning of a much deeper involvement with the marque.

A few months later, at the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show in March 2026, I once again visited the club stand. This time, one particular car immediately caught my attention, a black Porsche 924S Le Mans. Seeing one of these rare special editions up close made me realise just how special they are. The Le Mans model had always appealed to me, but seeing one in person planted a seed that I couldn’t ignore.
As my search for the right car gathered pace, I found myself talking to enthusiasts, reading everything I could about the Le Mans edition, and browsing countless adverts. Eventually, my search led me to Rare Porsche Parts, who had a white 1988 Porsche 924S Le Mans for sale. It was exactly the sort of car I’d been hoping to find.

During conversations with the team at Rare Porsche Parts, I learned about a planned road trip to Germany for the Porsche 924 50th Anniversary Homecoming. The idea of driving a newly acquired Le Mans back to the place where the Porsche 924 was born, alongside other enthusiasts, was simply too good an opportunity to miss. That decision changed everything.
Not only did I become the proud owner of a rare Porsche 924S Le Mans, soon to be affectionately named Peggy, but I also found myself becoming much more involved in the Porsche 924 community than I had ever imagined. What started as a long-forgotten restoration project sitting in a garage has grown into an incredible journey of ownership, friendship, road trips and discovery.

It follows Peggy’s adventures, documents the ongoing restoration of C252 XNX, shares the highs and occasional lows of classic Porsche ownership, and celebrates one of Porsche’s most underrated sports cars.
